Another spur of the moment sketch.
Aria Blaze leaning on a bike.
Decided not long after starting to use the bike from Akira, if for no other reason than it looks cool.
Kinda regretted that decision. Took 3 attempts before I got that bike to look right.

Should’ve said, my copy of Akira is a double disk special edition. Got the original subtitled version, English dubbed, and the “Production report” all together.
Daft, when that film was first released here in the UK, it was so sought after people were breaking in to houses just to nick the VHS video copy of Akira. I don’t think any other film in history has had that sort of reaction.
That’s true too. Akira is really heavy on visuals in the movie. One of the best animation ever done. Maybe memories over do it in sheer quality but those are short films, written by the same guy.
Breaking off from the visual spectacle to read the subtitles sucks. So I prefer the dubbed version.
As for the manga, they ran that in the magazine ‘Manga Mania’ which I collected for quite some time. Can’t remember much of that either, aside from the Nimitz class carrier that got wrecked over the course of several scenes. First they had Tetsuo appearing on the deck, wrecking a plane that was taking off. Then either Akira or Tetsuo blasted a chunk out of the flight deck. It eventually got sunk if I remember correctly.
Get the Japanese version. Also read the Manga.
Aaaand I forgot to log in….
Stupid thing is, I haven’t watched Akira this side of 2000. I barely remember any of it. Might be worth a re-watch soon.
Got the DVD out to draw the bike, (it’s on the front cover), so it’s currently in easy reach.
The breathing is so cheesy but fitting, and it’s one of those tunes that doesn’t go away once it enters your mind.
Also yeah. Kaneda’s bike is crazy.
Adagio Dazzle: (offscreen) “ARIAAAAAA!!!”
Thanks.
I’ve done a couple of other tweaks to the design here too.
There’s a Wonderbolts emblem on the front there, which was an American star with the blue and white stripes either side on the original bike.
Also, the text on the original bike said “Citizen”.
