The problem is, what you just said and clearly experienced, does not translate to “I wanna Ruin other people’s lives and Livelihoods because of a Single Burn”. You yourself said, “I Isolated myself”, while Starlight basically crafted a town, or took one over, crafted a Narrative to control ponies and make them literally rip out a part of their very being, and induce a Brainwashing system for “Unruly Subjects”.
She also was aware the Mane Six were the Elements of Harmony (She was able to attract Ponies to her town, and from how they had expected Visitors, has kept up to date), she just didn’t give a Damn.
Basically, Freuden Excuse, is NO EXCUSE. Remember that YOU, even at your lowest, didn’t try to make EVERYONE but YOURSELF Miserable just because of a Messy Parting of Ways!

She knew Twilight was an alicorn and her friends were important because, well, they’re the friends of an alicorn. It’s good to have insurance. She never hinted at knowing about the Elements, given their isolation not to mention that the main six, outside of two-parters, are never treated as the Bearers by anyone other than Celestia. This has always been a thing.
She knew Twilight was an Alicorn. She knew the Mane Six’s Cutie Marks were important.
Why ELSE did she seperate the Mane Six’s Cutie Marks from every other Ponies’? She Knew they were important enough to not be put in with the commoners so that Means she KNEW they were the ELEMENTS the whole bloody time!
She didn’t know they were the Elements of Harmony.
A lot of characters have done the same before, so this isn’t something new.
We all agree that her backstory was weak, but what we all should know by now, is that she wasn’t aware that anytime she prevented the sonic rainboom, she doomed equestria one way or another.
anyone here saying ‘well duh, you change the past you change the future, she should know that’ well…yes she does. that’s why Starlight changes the past because she knows that without the rainboom there wouldn’t be a Mane6 and it would hurt Twilight.
But she didn’t think that the Mane6 would play such a pivotal role in the saving of Equestria,. How could a simple band of friends be the only defense against ALL apocalyptic scenarios? Starlight certainly didn’t believe that, she had no reason to.
Starlight never wanted to destroy Equestria. She only wanted to ruin Twilight’s friendship. It just turns out that the Mane6 has plot armor so strong, that not even time travel could break it.
Mentally, right?
Starlight Glimmer’s whole chain of reasoning was: pony gets cutie mark -> pony stops being your friend. Therefore no pony should have a cutie mark, lest some pony lose a friend. And she was willing to risk destroying the world to make that point.
I’m sorry, but that’s just mental. Starlight was constantly reliving her foalhood trauma and projecting it on every pony in Equestria. She’s a supervillain on the level of Diamond Tiara.
No, it just started her on the road to create ‘Town’. She thought she was doing the right thing and what drove her to do what she did with the timeline was Twilight and her friends taking away the very thing she fought tooth and nail to get for several years, destroying the ‘friendships’ she thought she had and her way of life.
So she snapped. She wanted to hurt Twilight just like she had hurt her. She didn’t know that it would destroy Equestria. That’s not what she wanted and that’s why she stopped. She just wanted Twilight to feel the same pain and understand.
Do people realize that this event only really led to her establishing Equal Town?
Her perfect world being ruined is what drove her to revenge, and she had no damn idea what was actually going on until Twilight showed her firsthand.
Yeah, Why can’t she just make another friend!?
That’s how it works! If your friend decides their studies are worth more than their time with you, then let it be over!
Instead, she uses it as an excuse to destroy Equestria 7 times over! Literally! All over a Cutie mark!
