your current filter.Yeah, now that you mention it, it’s the CrystalWar timeline that became a tad too stereotypical more so than the other timelines. I suppose I need to accept that a few stereotypes will be integrated at some point. Some stereotypes are close to truth.
AJ and BM were in pretty much the opposite to thei fanfic versions. As was flutters in the Crissy-timeline and Dashie in the nmm-timeline.
Dashie in the sombra-timeline, however is both reminiscent of fanfics AND makes a tonne of sense for he character.
All the others, I do see you point, though.

I see what you mean, but also would have to ask what would be “canon sense”. And doing what was coolest on screen (not that it’s bad) is exactly what happened for a good portion of the finale. I felt that the characters were relegated to perceived fanon stereotypes I’ve read in 3 million fanfics all the same. This is just my opinion though.

I think in this instance the writers went with “what makes the most in canon sense”, rather than “what would be coolest on screen”

In the original timeline AJ’s parents had free time enough to birth a 3rd child i.e. Apple Bloom. They then died sometime after.
In this altered timeline, after Mr and Mrs Apple gave birth to Applejack, they were conscripted into the army where they died in battle.
At least, that’s my dark and twisted headcanon.
