A newt, specifically. It’s a fairy from Irish Mythology. I just adopted it as the first of my little encyclopedia. I wanted to do something not many people had touched on. Long story short she’s a stomach parasite.

salt is annoying anyway.

So far my intent with it is that they have a much lower tolerance to it than normal creatures. It’s fine for them to eat in very small doses, but it doesn’t take much to make them sick or even harm them. Their biggest weakness against it is their porous amphibian skin which absorbs it on contact, meaning they can’t just refuse to eat it.
I always thought it’d be similar to a snail or slug coming in contact with salt.
In large quantities it would probably hurt them, like if one ventured out into the open ocean. I imagine it provides something of an uncomfortable sting in normal doses, if they were to eat salty food mush.

That makes me curious, do these things just not like salt or does it actually hurt them?
You could be an outcast Alp who likes salty foods, viewed as a total weirdo by everyone else in Saddle Lake.
I’m a big fan of salty food, so I’d surely hate being al Alp-Luachra. I need my fries…
Not gonna lie that sounds pretty great the stomach and food part I mean.
You want to be a tiny parasitic creature that has a big weakness for anything with salt and crawls into the stomach of ponies for food and protection?

Well the stomach thing is focused on a lot I hardly ever hear about her being hungry so I’d say just being inside is the most of her enjoyment and getting food is a bonus.
I thought her favorite thing is being fed…
Well…. if it is in your tummy you will never get food poisoning or anything bad in it again :)
But then you would be denying her her favorite thing. D:
