It started off being a reference to the song on the MLP Christmas Album “Last Year I Got Coal For Christmas,” because it’s probable that the character Pop Fly is the same colt “First Base” we’ve seen before. Fanon has him as Flash Sentry’s younger brother, so Flash is cheering his sibling up after he got that coal. Meanwhile, the coal is apparently living, and Maud heard that Pop Fly received a rock for Christmas, and so wants to trade her HayStation 4 for it.
 
Yeah, it got really weird.
