They still make these!?
Wow, someone needs to learn courtesy.
I’m not big on surprise gifts, since what I want is usually completely unpredictable to everyone I know. I don’t think I’ve ever whined about getting a bad gift, though. That isn’t gracious… but my family does notice it when I receive a present, say “thank you”, put it in a drawer and then never look at it again. The item usually goes out with charity donations at the first opportunity. I never, ever be rude about it, though.
My family doesn’t give gifts anymore because my youngest brother complained far too much about getting clothes just that one time. I still agree with you completely :P
Pony dolls, Garfield books, any type of candy, and even clothes are still great gifts to me. If I still had friends, I’d try to get them thoughtful gifts too :3
trouble with giving money is that money is worthless
very versatile, but worthless
we like what money can get, but money itself is just dirty paper
so it ends up being a lot of work deciding where to spend that money on what so you can get something you actually wanted.
when someone does that work for you, it’s nice. thus, presents = nice.
that means gift cards are basically the stupidest gift ever
“hey here’s this money, except it has corporate logos on it, is just as worthless, and even less versatile.”
was attacking the wrapping paper?
A DICKIE!?
I usually get a card, sometimes with money or a gift card inside. But when my parents do get me a present, it’s usually a small stuffed animal that they don’t bother wrapping, or they bring me to the store to choose something. It’s not that I don’t get presents, it’s just that they don’t really take the time to find something and wrap it. Doesn’t really help my growing depression though…
Holy shit, your youngest sounds like an absolute ass!
That sounds kinda sad. The latter part I mean, the former is your own business.
While money is more practical, there was a certain thrill when someone tries to get you something they think you’d like, and you’re pleasantly surprised.
I don’t really need or expect gifts anymore, but I appreciate them and I return the favor.
Then they turn out to be clothes…
Me neither.
They are? I don’t celebrate Christmas and I haven’t gotten a wrapped gift in years.
