I legit don’t really care about the presents.
 
For me it really is about getting to see my extended family. I only get to see my aunts/cousins/grandparents once or twice a year.

To be fair, Applejack was worried that there is a chance that nopony will be getting their presents if they couldn’t find them. Can you just imagine Apple Bloom not getting a present for Hearth’s Warming? That would have been a sad sight guys. Applejack just couldn’t let that happen.

This is the point of the episode. She tells AB it’s not all about the presents, but it’s a canned statement, she has to experience this kind of culture shock in order to actually grasp what that statement means.
 
She’s not lying when she tells AB, she just thinks she understands what she’s saying.

But in the second pic she wasn’t just talking about presents. She was talking about bringing the whole of her family’s traditions surrounding this event. Presents were just one part of it. Hence how it “isn’t just about the presents”.

More like EVERYBODY who celebrates Christmas: we preach that it’s not about the presents; just so we don’t feel guilty about only being excited for the presents. Hell, I plan to do mostly charity work this Christmas season (when I’m not obsessing over Star Wars); yet I’m still looking forward to getting presents!
