Does anybody remember what I posted down there? I’m trying to think what I could have said that it would be deleted but I can’t think of anything it could be.

It is possible that Applejack’s parents died during G1 when Tirek was alive. It said in the pilot that Tirek could have killed Spike.  
Tirek might have killed Applejack’s parents we just didn’t see it.

It would actually be kind of funny if Scootaloos parents were super boring, like accountants or corporate lawyers or something. They get shown once because we keep asking about her parents and then suddenly Scootaparents! But look at how boring and uninteresting they are! Now they will never be seen again!

This would certainly be less awful than them being traveling salesponies (stuck on A River In Egypt, no doubt), but it’s still more horrible than them being dead all along, because in all these years of Apple Family interactions, the Apple Parents ain’t never been mentioned so much as once. I maybe could see the Scootaparents never having put in an appearance just because they’re boring and there were never any stories that required their presence– I personally think they’re boring because they’re dead too– but there’s just no way to narratively reconcile living (but ever-unmentioned) parents with the Apple Clan’s constant focus on kinship and family bonds.

Oh, I get it.  
They will appear in season finale with time thing.  
In one of paralel words they will be alive.  
And Applejack will have to decide to stay in the world with her happier variant of life with her parents and leave her friends or stay with them.

I never claimed otherwise. I personally also think that it’s very likely that they’re dead.

Yes that is true, but there does come a point when one interpretation is much less likely than another. At this point them being alive (while possible) is extremely unlikely.

The entire essence of symbolism is that it’s open to interpretation, so no, it’s still not really confirmed. The writers says that they were a nod to her parents, not that they were a nod to her dead parents.

The shooting stars at one of the reunion episodes was supposed to be representative of their parents. There is no ambiguity.

It’s still not confirmed by any sense of the word. Not only is Applejack’s statement ambiguous, but Big Jim and co are still purposefully being coy about it when asked.

They’re dead. It’s not a mystery. The only real question is how because it can’t have been natural causes.

If the show for some reason really didn’t want them to be dead (which is clearly meant to be the case) I would accept this as a substitute. I actually think this would be far more interesting character wise for AJ. Though I’m sure this might piss off more parents than them straight up saying they are dead would.

My biggest complaint for the show comes from my desire to know all of the shows finer details for the main characters and the popular side characters.  
But the shows strongest point for going forward with new seasons, movies and giving the comic books things to work on was explained by Lauren Faust.  
By not doing everything or explaining everything too soon, leave something for later on.  
But my complaint comes in 5 seasons later on and something still isn’t explained.  
Like the explanation for Applejacks Parents.  
Okay so we get it that there aren’t here right now, we kinda get that by having not seen them for the past 5 seasons.  
But like how you said if her mom and dad were criminals provided AJ a reason why to be good, could be a back story for little AJ growing up.  
I guess the point I’m trying to make is, until they finally make up their mind and decide to show us exactly how and why and what happened to her parents, they could actually still be alive.  
They could be exploring the moon.  
They could be in pony prison.  
They could be spies in the changeling/minotaur/dragon/dwarf/elf/human/Republican kingdoms.  
They could be stuck in the sock puppet dimension and Senior Huevos could actually be Applejacks dad!  
Actually hold everything! I have a new headcanon!  
Senior Huevos is actually Applejacks dad!  
When Discord opened up the portal to toss Tree Hugger in, AJs dad finally found the way out from the sock puppet dimension, but before he could bring his wife over so they could make their escape, the moment with Tree Hugger was over, so they missed their chance to escape!  
That’s my new headcanon can and I’m sticking to it until Hasbro and DHX finally make up their minds what to do with friggin AJs parents already!

Okay seriously, the idea that one of Applejack’s parents was a criminal would be so awesome. Like the reason she’s so honest and hardworking could be because she learned how not to be like her mom or dad.
