well not entirely true. with a story like hers mars. and with reason while yes prostutuion is illegal. the story alone with make a jury cry there hearts out that are not ponys. with ponys you might need a life jacket. So anypony who would get caught could wind up getting sued for rape. and with the ammount of times she has been raped she could get out of money issues. and thus get out of that city and into a nice place with mars with a real. stable job. and safety.

Actually, looking at the description, it implies prostitution is illegal. Why else would she be powerless to do something about being short-changed?

You know, the more I see this character get screwed over (in both senses of the word), the more I wonder if the hidden moral of this entire series is that the type of guys who employ prostitutes are (mostly) horrible, horrible individuals.
 
Or maybe I’m reading too much into it and the actual point is that people like to see Venus skate that thin line between functional despair and being completely broken. Either way, feeling kind of bad for her here.
