In hindsight, many theories of MLP often have a tendency to make tragedy out of things that might not have been intended to be tragic.
For example, Scootaloo being an orphan.
Before the confirmation of their parents, it was common to say she was an orphan under grounds that she has no parents onscreen.
This is what I imagine it happen:
- Her parents never appear.
- Applejack is implied to have deceased parents.
- At no point her family appears likely because they had an accident.
- The episodes never highlight her home…maybe she has no home.
- The tragedy of not being able to flight…maybe she kinda lost them in an accident.
And then, there’s the Occam’s razor explanation.
- Her parents never appear.
- The show runs on limited time and many families have appeared without often having anything important to do.
- Many other characters didn’t showcased their families either probably because is not important.
- Maybe her family just isn’t relevant to the show…at least not yet, so that’s why they never appear.
It tragicomical how many weird theories come from extrapolating weird things. I find it can be rather absurd.
