I just think that character is more important than specific actions if one is seeking to determine best pony by some standard rather than favoritism.
Simply because what a pony does is subject to the whims of the writers and they’re trying to formulate conflict with the characters to get a lesson across, with some humor.
So I would contend that such a metric is the opposite of what the writers are trying to accomplish.
But again, that’s just my opinion.

That wasn’t my point at all. But I’m not keen to argue against your opinion really.
I just tire of that argument since I feel it is missing the forest for the trees in a different forest.

While I like Twilight the best, it’s AJ who’s the best sister and the one who won an award for being the most dependable pony in the community. That’s just two things off the top of my head. She also handles herself really well in most situations compared to the others. I don’t know why she isn’t my favorite. I guess I like nerdy characters more. But I still think she’s best pony.

I always assumed that character takes precedence over relatively erroneous actions?
Since the latter is far more variable and up to the whims of a half dozen writers to a far greater degree.

Applejack is best pony. She’s not my favorite pony, but she’s still a better pony than the rest in terms of behavior.
