Right now, I’m noticing large amounts of lower res images under wallpaper (not very surprising) and baby pony (for some reason).
Since searching out undersized images and re-uploading them seems to be more popular nowadays, I figured that I should make a thread exclusively for it. Yes, we did previously have Top Scoring and Merging for this type of thing, but that was more for when dupes could make their way to the top ranking, which is no longer an issue.
Basically, this thread will be for locating tags/artists that tend to have large amounts of lower res images and to discuss other issues that may arise as a result of merging. Since reuploading is supposed to be beneficial for the site, I fail to see what we can lose from a little organization.

Since I am OP and have first post, I might as well post a short guide as to how I find lower res images.
- Don’t type anything in the search bar, just push the little magnifying glass. This will bring you to “advanced search”.
- In the longer search bar that comes up, type in whatever (artist name or tag). Go to “sort by”, and click width. Then click “sort direction” and choose ascending. Search.
- Now here comes the fun part. You have to rift through tons of these images. If it’s a large tag (200+), chances are you’ll find the majority - but certainly not all - of your dupes in the middle of the results. You might be able to tell if something’s a dupe if its res isn’t “rounded” (ex. It’s 1235 x 5321 instead of 2000 x 6000), but this isn’t always true. Try to figure out what size the artist’s work usually is; some artists will sick to a certain canvas size. Chrome’s handy option to “search google for this image” (accessed by right clicking the image and selecting from a dropdown) is particularly useful with porn, wallpapers, and sourceless images.
And above all, make sure you’re not violating the DNP!
