Welcome to the Miracleverse! AKA, the Disliked Ships AU, but I don’t use this as a platform for hate. While the universe is slightly… twisted, they are all options that could have happened in the main TFIMverse. They’re a chance to do things with the… standard ships that people have, and using them in new ways, as well as a platform for interesting characters. I want to do some different things with the designs, so I may note the standard designs I tried to avoid with each design. These designs have been done for… an embarrassing amount of time, so expect a lot of the designs at once, I finally decided to upload them. But, since this is a canon character, and I did it today and yesterday, that doesn’t quite apply. So instead of ‘what I did different’ with their children, I’ll explain my design choices for each of them!
Zephyr Breeze is the father of Angelica Glauca, Evenkite Pie and Misty Mizzle, with Saffron Masala, Limestone Pie, and Rainbow Dash. He is married to Limestone Pie
Zephyr’s whole look hasn’t changed from his design in canon, and this was highly intentional; he’s not changed much since he was in canon. His hair comes from when he tried to ‘make it on his own’ in the wilderness, as is the stubble, and his tail is from when Rainbow Dash zapped the heck out of him. All in all, he’s pretty much the same pony we met back in ‘Flutter Brutter’ in more ways than appearance…. well, if we had met him in ‘Flutter Brutter’… because, remember, ‘Flutter Brutter’ came after ‘The Crystalling’…. which means, it never happened… or at least, didn’t happen the same way as in canon.
In this case, it didn’t happen at all; Fluttershy never decided to go ahead and say hi to her parents that day, everyone was too busy. So Zephyr continued his cycle; the cycle of living with his parents, only to end up choosing a brand new ‘calling’ that he’d ‘been destined to do his whole life’ and… well, the cycle continued for years, just like it always did.
And one time, around 17-18 years ago, his ‘true calling’ was to be a chef, and, well.. the only restaurant willing to hire him was a restaurant that was only just getting back on its hooves after the death of Zesty Gourmand (Don’t worry, it was of old age/natural causes, she’s a lot older than she looks and yes that’s saying something/possibly aided by malnutrition that comes from exclusively eating only one subset of foods prepared to an exacting standard and not very much of it) that kind of released the entirety of Canterlot from her strange standards of what is ‘good’.
He joined the team, while the mare who now ran the place took care of her aging father, (who insisted on still helping in some way but old people taste buds aren’t as good but he’ll be damned if he quits just because he’s getting a bit old.) hired many other ponies, Zephyr stood out from the crowd… not because of any talent, far from it; he was pretty mediocre, but by personality. A smooth talking ‘artistic’ type…
Saffron Masala may have fallen a bit hard; not entirely out of her rebellious teenage phase (even if she was well into her 20’s), even though her father said that it was definitely a bad idea; no guy with that attitude is up to anything other than no good. But Saffron didn’t listen, and… well, Zephyr admitted, she sure wasn’t Rainbow Dash, but she certainly was exotic. (Yes, I did feel gross writing that) And that excited him. So they had a whirlwind fling of a romance, but… well, as always, his ‘free spirit’ called him to another job, leaving her in the dirt.
He went back to his parents for a continuation in the cycle, his parents still not able to say no to him, and his next calling came and went, but when his calling went and he returned home to begin the cycle again… well, there was a basket at the door. A basket and a very angry mare with a foal in said basket who had gone around looking for Zephyr Breeze, finally tracking him down… and a VERY VERY angry older sister, who was the one to help Saffron find him.
He was… not in for a good time. Fluttershy hadn’t exactly kept up with her deadbeat brother, having more important things to do with her life than keep tabs on him; it wasn’t her job to fix his life. Maybe if she didn’t have the obligations she did, but no. If her parents weren’t willing to stand up to him, they had to live with it. But this?… This was different. Saffron was just a mare that had the bad luck of knowing Zephyr, she was the one abandoned… and the foal he had inadvertently brought into the world, too. Zephyr had failed in such a major way she had to step in. And so did She. Zephyr Breeze done fucked up.
Saffron Masala was unable to run her restaurant and take care of her father while raising a foal, and she didn’t have faith in the Equestrian adoption system to take care of her foal. So Zephyr Breeze would have to take care of their daughter, whether he wanted to or not, damnit.
She could send them money if she had to, that she had plenty of, but she couldn’t spare the emotional energy and attention… perhaps she was naive to think Zephyr would, but she had made her decision, and Fluttershy very much supported this decision. And after being chewed out by both his sister and her alter (in varying levels of intensity), he had little choice but to agree to it. Fluttershy stayed at her parents (and Zephyr’s) house and gave up a not insignificant amount of her time making sure Zephyr wouldn’t accidentally kill his unicorn daughter or fuck up in major ways before returning to her own child and her own life, hoping for the best.
The best wasn’t much, but Zephyr did keep checking up on Fluttershy (mostly to ask ‘WHAT DO WITH BABY HOW TO BABY’) to make sure he wasn’t screwing up… but most of the time, it fell to his parents to be their granddaughter’s caretakers, which they did, because.. well, they were really, really quite pushovers. They may have been getting on in years* and not as spry as they once were (being retirees by the time of canon and all), but they did their best and took care of Angelica when her father was… busy. After all, he couldn’t take care of a daughter if he didn’t have a job, and he swore he was gonna get it this time, this is really his true calling!.. It never really was, or it never would be, not as if he tried hard, but at least he tried?
About 10-11 years before Miracleverse canon, Zephyr Breeze was visiting his sister for his bi-annual ‘HOW DOES I CHILD???’ checkup when he found Rainbow Dash already there, seeking counsel from his sister too.. it was, an opportune moment, let’s just say. A very opportune moment. You see, Rainbow Dash was having marital issues… how convenient~. Rainbow Dash was not only frustrated by her husband’s lack of drive in pushing himself with the Wonderbolts training, but also feeling… unfulfilled, in a way that Zephyr definitely could help her with. *eyebrow waggle*
She resisted, but she felt very angry at her husband, and figured that she could get back at him in her own way by being with Zephyr; if Soarin’ couldn’t fulfill her needs, somepony else could, and if Soarin was so inadequate that Zephyr Breeze could fulfill them, all the better… It was a form of revenge just as much as desire, but Zephyr didn’t care. He’d had a crush on her for his whole life, and finally he had the chance to do what he had only dreamed of for years; be with Rainbow Dash.
She left and refused to acknowledge it ever happened, and when Fluttershy found out… well, Zephyr had already heard that talk. And when Misty Mizzle was born, he expected a repeat of Angelica’s birth, but instead, nothing happened. Rainbow Dash had decided to hide their relationship on her side. He had no responsibility to take care of another child.
But that’s skipping what had already happened; he had a girlfriend again, just after Rainbow Dash and Zephyr had been together, before Misty was even born, two months after that, Sprinkle Pie (that was her name, right?) was holding Rainbow Dash’s baby shower, and invited everyone, even relatives. That’s when he found out Rainbow had decided to not let Soarin know the foal wasn’t his (she took him aside and threatened to geld him if he ever said anything, to be specific).
But that’s when he met her. The beautiful sister of Sprinkle Pie; Limestone. The damn sexiest girl he’d ever seen. Toned, strong, everything he loved about Rainbow Dash, playing hard to get, tough, rough, smart… she was the complete package. And she’d never met him before (strangely, that seemed to limit his dating options if ponies had heard of him… I wonder why?..), so it worked out even better. Plus, maybe this ‘rock farming’ thing was his calling?…. I mean, it’s not like rocks could be particularly hard to farm, right?
So he took Angelica with him this time, since Limestone seemed to find ‘responsible’ stallions attractive, and when she heard he was a single father, she go the (VERY WRONG) idea that he would be one. So he moved in with Limestone, and… well, he definitely didn’t regret some things, (the sex), it was harder than he ever could have imagined.. especially since her parents had this insane idea that he was going to marry her and settle down??? And so did Limestone?…. he may have bitten off more than he could chew. And while Pegmatite Pie, Limestone’s other child didn’t require raising (already an adult), she was happy to have a dad for the first time.. he was screwed.

Continuing from the description, in case the source dies 🙂

And then Limestone said she was pregnant. And by this point, she had an idea of what Zephyr was like with responsibilities, so she made an ultimatum; they were going to be married, and if he so much as thought of leaving, she would break his wings in half and then rip them off. And suddenly, the fact that she was into wingplay and wing-restraints in the bedroom became… sinister.
One night after they had their fun, she ‘forgot’ to take off the restraints, and the magic they had (made for the fun) made it only come off when the dominant player said the safe word (they recalled this model soon, after realizing they had made a mistake with which party said the safe word, but not before Limestone bought one)…. He couldn’t fly away. And so he was grounded.
And that attitude she had that he had found so sexy… turned out to not be so fun in the long run. She was rough, nasty and demanding of things that he simply wasn’t capable of doing, even if he wasn’t a deadbeat, and she wasn’t afraid to punish him for failure.. and not in the fun way. But he still found her incredibly attractive, even if (or even because) of this… and eventually, he gave up on escaping… at least the other ponies in the family would be able to take care of their kids instead of him?… it wasn’t so bad… it’s not that bad.
Evenkite was born healthy, and Zephyr hoped that meant she would finally let his wings go.. but as you can see, that never happened. He’s honestly forgotten he has them, sometimes. And sure, she takes them off for ‘play’, but he doesn’t have the will left to fight it, and it’s the only time he gets to feel his atrophied wings, so he loves that. It feels good. Or.. it feels. And that’s good, right?… Zephyr made his bed and is lying in it… but is that entirely right?
In the end, Zephyr Breeze is just a child, mentally.. at least, in some ways. With parents that never disciplined him, that never stopped him, that coddled him every day, accepted his failure, never pushing him to do anything or overcome any adversity… When he failed, they would comfort him, encourage him, but never push him to keep trying even though he failed, if he failed, it was ok… he didn’t have to try. So he grew up with no idea how to work; he just isn’t emotionally capable of work because he just couldn’t understand that failure isn’t some kind of permanent sign that you should give up. If you’re not good at something, you can’t get better. He’s never gotten better at anything in his life, and his cutie mark is a fluke, a meaningless one, since he doesn’t have a clue what it’s for or what it means. Fluttershy likely only managed to escape his fate by being adopted (See this) and having lived 7 years with parents that encouraged her to continue and keep pushing herself. Zephyr… was damned from the start. That doesn’t mean that he’s not responsible for his own actions; you always have a choice, you can always be better, and he had many chances to turn himself around… he just never did, and that’s on him. But he certainly didn’t have much of a chance on his own. In canon, he was lucky to have Fluttershy take pity on him and help him learn how to survive on his own, but without it.. he shares my uncle’s fate.. just without alcohol.
*As I explained in Spike’s description, ponies live longer than humans, but what I didn’t mention is that Pegasi are on average the least long lived of all ponies, while Unicorns live to around 120-150 on average and Earth Ponies can live up to 200 years if they’re very lucky, with 150-180 being their average lifespan, Pegasi live up to 100-120 years old, meaning that Fluttershy’s parents (who are around 60-65 in my headcanon in canon) would be 69-74 when Angelica was born.
