The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@Background Pony
None of that has anything to do with my original point: Free market principles did not cause the recent economic situation.

You’ve got that last bit backwards; people are the currency of slavers - those who live by means of force and sacrifice their fellow man for their own gain, which is the mode of exchange in Marx’s ideal society, not laissez-faire capitalism.

There are only so many ways to make a computer correctly. Just be glad that IBM couldn’t manage to trademark “computer” or capitalism, as a virtue, would have offered you no better selection.

Actually, nobody CAN afford half of these products, the way inflation’s going. Then they get bombarded with easy payment rates and loan options, that make it SEEM like they can afford the item. Surprisingly high interest rates and hidden fees make sure they can’t, though, and they are then shackled to the people who knowingly and intentionally offered them such a toxic loan in the first place.

Don’t forget, debt is the currency of slaves.

“Capitalism was what took the world into this financial limbo many are in since 2008.”

Man, if I had a nickel for every time I heard this… how would it benefit the “1%” if they created an environment wherein nobody could afford their company’s products, find work or even had to lay off their own employees? What exactly is it about production and trade for private profit that leads to such devastating effects? And then there’s the fact that the government got involved, spending everyone’s social security money to bail out the companies that were facing bankruptcy, which isn’t capitalism, it’s government protectionism at that point.

As for the soviet computer, yeah, it’s comparable to what the C=64 was capable of, I guess (Don’t know computers as well as I’d like), but I’d rather have the freedom to pick from a wide variety of machines. Also, those parts about “Clones of Western models” is pretty telling, if you ask me.

Actually, few people remember this, but in the early My Little Pony cartoons from the 1930s, Groucho Marx was the voice of Discord. Unfortunately none of those survived.

Whatever Karl Marx originally envisioned never really took hold, due to human nature. I theory, his ideology works, but humans simply don’t think the way he wanted them to think.

True Communism never existed in the first place. And it never will, as long as we are humans.

Yeah, somehow I don’t think the guy who coined the phrase “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” would have been a big fan of a show wherein no less than three of the main characters are capitalists.

I know little to nothing about this stuff, yet I’m sure he created what is known as “marxism” while “communism” was based on marxism, but Marx actually thought communism wouldn’t work or something.
