So like gamer luna?
Heh. That is the one of first Lyra pictures I saw.
How about pants?
yeah why is it always hands. can’t it be something else in human culture
Neither of those are nearly as omnipresent as humie Lyra. It’s damn near impossible to find a good Lyra fic/comic/picture without being swarmed with LOLHANDS constantly.
I understand that, but let me put it this way. I didn’t care for the “Luna likes grilled-cheese” gag, or the Button Mash memes, but I don’t complain about them all the time.
Seriously, we can’t post one Lyra pic here now without somebody bitching.
It never occured to you that people don’t like it because they don’t like it?
I know I’d love it if something obsurce that I liked became more popular.
I’m also confused by that mindset. If something you like becomes really popular, that’s a GOOD thing!
I guess the logic could be something along the lines of “I’m one of the few people who like this obscure thing, therefore that makes me special and cool!”, which is really very silly. ~~. ~~
Yeah, I never understood that mentality… I had a friend like that, who would start to hate even things he liked, just because they started to become more popular, and stuff. He pretty much anything that he saw as “to popular,” which was almost everything.
People need to hate what’s popular maybe? I don’t know. Maybe it’s some rebel fight the power crap I’m just not getting.
Whether it makes sense or not, that’s just what the fandom came up with.
Perhaps in an alternate universe where things happened slightly differently, Trixie would be the human-obsessed one, as you suggested.
If you can’t see the difference between Lyra’s slouch in “Dragonshy” and Twilight’s sitting pose in “The Ticket Master”, you’re blind.
Yes, the human-obsessed Lyra fanon is overused (though, IMHO, occasionally funny), but it does have its origin in what was, at the time, a unique occurrence.
That’s about as much sense as “Trixie is into humans cause she was the first pony to run like one”
And realism in MLP? Really?
It’s more a case of “those other positions are physically possible for horses to take, therefore it isn’t a good comparison”.
“They didn’t sit in the exact same way, therefor it’s invalid cause I say so.”
The foals isn’t great example. They weren’t setting upright un supported by something in front of them. Also Call of the Cutie was five episodes after Dragonshy. Enough time to start and establish a fanon. Derpy loving muffins had less leeway in which it could be argued that she never said “Muffins” at all.
You have to keep in mind that the fanon for Lyra wasn’t made overnight. It started out that she was a fan of humans just like we’re a fan of ponies, and it evolved from there.
Of course it is. Loads of fanon often comes from leaps in logic. This isn’t a bad thing, though. It’s a lot of fun. ^_ ^
So, she slouches, therefor she’s into humans and hands? That’s still quite a leap.
