don’t hurt me
AJ has the most consistent character development out of any of the Mane 6. If you’re not seeing it then you must be trying to ignore it. She’s one of the only characters who’s made a reference to a previous episode’s lesson and then applied it. Who exactly are you going to try to compare her to in that respect? She’s really the only one who hasn’t had an episode where she essentially learns the same lesson twice. If you’re going to argue that she thinks she’s learned it all, then you’re acknowledging she has a character flaw. If you’re arguing that she’s boring because she’s essentially flawless, then you can’t say what you just said. So which is it going to be?
Honestly, it’s hard not to get the impression that you’re just here purely for the sake of bickering.
I’m a big AJ fan (AJ best pone 5evar ftw) and I’ll admit she’s got some pretty big flaws. You can’t have your cake and eat it too, AJ has made some pretty terrible mistakes– Like bailing on her friends and family because she didn’t win money that she never owed in the first place. If there’s one defining, recurring flaw AJ has, it’s a crippling fear of failure- not losing, per se, but of letting people down. She constantly breaks herself trying to live up to an ideal standard, which often results in her hurting herself or the people close to her. You can see it in Applebuck Season, the Last Roundup, Apple family reunion, and Pinkie Apple Pie, plus a whole bunch of others. She’s always trying to live up to someone’s expectations because she’s so incredibly insecure, hell, she makes Rainbow Dash look stable in that respect.
But…
I do agree that AJ is best pony. Why? Because she’s kind, loyal, honest etc. and her biggest flaw is that she works to hard (which you could hardly call a flaw).
Come right the fuck at me, Applejack. :3
Just, yikes.
I like AJ, I’m just defending her by… talking about her flaws and mistakes. It’s a weird thing, isn’t it?
Although, Fluttershy as my favorite.
k, I don’t really want to keep going on and on in this thread when I said I would stop.
So if you wanna discuss this further, message me.
Dash only used her wings after AJ hitched a ride on a balloon.
AJ couldn’t handle Mr. Beaverton Beaverteeth and Fluttershy had to mediate the conflict.
AJ also joined the others in being troublesome in all three episodes of the Gala arc.
No, Dash used her wings and justified it as “you never said I couldn’t use my wings”
The sleepover I’ll give you but it was villainy shared and merely a fabrication of the episode’s plot.
And the same goes for being angry at Shy.
And the Twilight example is pretty lame
In the sleepover, Rarity and Applejack had to learn to get along. Neither was purely right. AJ was just as petty and made Rarity ruin her hair knowing that appearance is extremely important to Rarity.
Rainbow thought AJ was cheating first and used the same logic that AJ later did: cheat against a cheater.
AJ was just as angry at Fluttershy as everypony else for keeping the extra parasprite and was angry at Twilight for breaking the “no magic” rule.
every ep is that general conflict though
She has learned lessons, she did the “didn’t learn anything” gag just once.
And she’s insecure about how others value her and dislikes not working. She has to be honest, support her family, support her town, and do everything herself. She has difficulty putting work on others where she thinks she can do it.
and I should point out: cheating in retaliation to cheating is w/e
Being a bad liar is w/e
and she only almost started the battle out of familial protection.
Personally, I dont like it when she stars with other ponies because they always make the other pony dumber or in greater need of AJ’s guidance than they should be.
Purely to justify her presence.
I know some people say that, but she’s not perfect. She did resort to cheating when she saw RD cheat, is a terrible liar, and almost caused a battle. On the positive side, she’s a great foil for both Rainbow and Rarity. More episodes of her co-starring with another pony could do wonders.
They sure present her as that. She never has to learn anything because she apparently knows it all already. Or at least knows all what she wants to know.
Sick of them using her family as a crutch, though.
I see no reason to trash talk.
