People like Berry Punch are easy prey for cults. It’s a sad truth.

I’m just fucking the guy. In all seriousness, what I dislike about saying “oooh, spooky cult” or showing it like it is here is that most cults don’t work like that. I wasn’t bullshitting when I said I visited a Scientology Church, and it really was a pleasant experience, but not that much happened. A nice Bavarian lady let us watch an interview with Hubbard and we made some small talk about what she did there and how she joined. I don’t approve of Scientology’s tenants, but I won’t deny that she was a nice lady. And that’s just it, most cults don’t approach you as weird people in robes. That’s instantly going to set off warning bells, and most people in cults can still function in normal society, the extent to which they are estranged may vary. Furthermore, Hubbard’s interview is FASCINATING. If you ever get the chance to watch it, I’d recommend it, it’s a good insight into how a cult like Scientology can operate. Hubbard never mentions any of their beliefs in the universe, he’s three things that help him. He’s A) General, it’s always stuff like “I was wondering why people suffered and desired for stuff” never specific, it’s broadly appealing, B) he’s evasive, he rarely answers questions directly, and C) he’s charismatic, he does have a good presence and ability to project.

I would never join Scientology, but it was worth going into that Church because I got to see something new.

Their are literally dozens of factual cases and studies of Scientology using abuse and manpulation to recruit people and keep them in line. Now I’ve never met any scientolgist or read any scientolgist literature( unless you count that southpark episode) but their names never seem to come up without mention of paradoy or incident.

I think you’re just believing rumors. I had a very nice time talking to a Bavarian lady about Hubbard just the other day. We watched a very interesting introductory video, I think you should watch it too.

Of course I know that people go to these places, which is why it’s so sad that the carefully constructed recruiting process, designed to “convert” those that come(Scientology known to both very phycological brutal and focused on personal monetary concerns)are designed to make them less people when they come out and one of the “Brothers and sister” or “chosen ones” or “child”. Look up Scientology recruitment processes, nasty stuff.
