My problem is with everyone not noticing that the joke is so stale and overdone and unchanging that it could be used as a support beam.
No, it is not the same context because the effect is overlaid on different video clips. It can be more related to one than to another.

Knew what you were referring to without clicking the link. But using the same joke in a different context can cause it to have a different effect, and more importantly, humor is one of the most subjective things in the world. You do not have the right to tell other people what they can find funny.
