Rainbow’s isn’t bad, but I’d choose Americana, personally.
 
Can’t stand Owl City, so for Twilight I think I’ll give her Pink Floyd’s The Wall. She’s contemplative and I think she’d enjoy the abstract lyrics. Plus she goes a little crazy sometimes and the idea of Roger Waters being a sane man is… well, incorrect.
 
Rarity? Hmmm… She’s harder to pin down. It’ll need to be big and dramatic, possibly even glamorous, as far as rock and roll goes anyway. Probably something by 30 Seconds to Mars. Arena rock, with how huge it tries to be, would likely be right up her alley. Now, if she liked rock, but hid the fact because she felt that it didn’t represent her well in front of the elite of society in places like Canterlot, anything classical is also obvious. That or Queen.
 
Fluttershy’s easier to peg, what with her being so gentle and demure. Something soothing like Coldplay would be up her alley, I think. For a specific album, I’m gonna guess Viva la Vida. Conversely, I could also see her liking crooners. Frank Sinatra is the obvious choice, particularly “My Way”.
 
Because of her lacking an actual canon personality outside of being clumsy, Derpy’s taste in music pretty much comes down to whatever you enjoy that you think fits her image. Maybe more psychedelic rock; Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band comes to mind for some reason.
 
But, in the end, I suppose it all comes down to your own taste in music and what you think they’d like out of that. Which is cool. I mean, who am I to say what they’d listen to.

Probably because of the emphasis on literary works, Twilight’s always struck me as Power Metal fan, specifically Blind Guardian.

Applejack seems more of a Tammy Wynette fan.
