If THAT’S the case, then I’d just expect her to fail spectacularly at the whole day.
Understanding responsibilities ad understanding new politics after a thousand year “vacation” are two different kind of shoes in my opinion. Besides Luna seems to be in for ruling the day, mostly for the fun she thinks it will hold and for poving she’s as good as her sister at this politics thingie and not outta responsibility.
So now we get to see what the Luna Republic really would be like.

Not sure we’re communicating on the same wavelength, here- I was referring to having the “newer, wiser Luna” attempting to resolve delicate domestic politics with all the subtlety of a strategic weapon.
They’ll probably have her do just that in this comic, even though she really should know better already.
Well, it would be limited to this issue; Cele would congratulate Luna on a job well done, and Luna would go “THOU CAN KEEPST THINE JOB”, “resetting” to the status quo.
I like your idea a bit better than mine, but I’m not hopeful- they’ve already used episodic intelligence resets in both show and comics.
Really, Luna shouldn’t have any problem understanding responsibility to her subjects. Even if her own Nightmare fiasco managed to breeze right over her head, her encounter with Rarity-as-Nightmare would certainly hammer the point home.
We’ll see. Nothing is final until it goes up for sale, but so far, results are indeed optimistic.
My gut says that Cele will be sneakily following around, and “fixing” anything that goes wrong behind Luna’s back (even if Luna is aloof to the problem), but will end up surprised when Luna actually resolves something in a unique, working way.
RESPONSIBILITY!, just like Pinkie Pie.
Be interesting if I’m wrong, though.
