But there are people who think G1 is better than G4, and I will agree, there are parts that G1 does better, but I actually can’t decide which of those 2 generations are better.

Something being the origin of something else has nothing to do with quality though.

G1 from what I glimpsed at is actually just as great as G4 is.
 
We all do have to remember if it weren’t for G1, G4 wouldn’t exist today.

While kinda true, you do have to know every generation started going in steep a downhill rush after a while, G4 included.
 
G1 was decent until they did a 180 turn and switched to Tales, which wasn’t all that bad either.  
G3 was sugar-sweet and adorable without being dumb, up until the Core 7 came along and turned it into five minute shots of spoonfeeding. And then there was Newborn Cuties which is best not talked about.  
G4 was a great and educational series about a pony learning about friendship, before they dropped everything in a blink of an eye and changed it into a schizophrenic mess that doesn’t know what to do with itself.

Hence why I think it’s appropriate to call MLP Tales “G1.5”, but it’s still not G2. But that’s my opinion; for people who focus on the toys and consider the cartoons an afterthought, it makes sense to classify MLP Tales as G1.

Yeah. And you can interpret this pic as G4 saving the MLP cartoon. Saving it from a DROP in quality. A literal drop in this case.
 
If it was Hasbro you would think they would use “HASBRO” instead of “MLP”.

It makes sense because G4 didn’t ‘save’ MLP. It just made it popular for everyone.
