Traditionally the Tatzlwurm is depicted as being exceptionally poisonous, and it’s typical for poisonous reptiles and plants to have bright, vivid coloring of this nature.
It could be that this was a male Tatlwurm. Often, males of the species have distinctive colors and features that seem illogical in anything other than attracting a mate.
“Do we have wurmsign?”
“Twilight, we have wurmsign the likes of which Faust has never seen.”
Is this heinous bright coloring supposed to scare its potential prey away or something?
