Sad to say, there is NO pony Greek religion. It’s just a reference to Greek mythology. Don’t be such a silly filly!
Yes.
Yoh Yoshinari?
Yeah, I wanted to mention someone, but none came directly to mind.
I believe a Studio Trigger artist drew fanart, but I can’t remember his name.
@A Sad Pony
There were also quite a few Japanese artists doing MLP:FiM art long before the dub aired.
Pretty sure there were. I remember there being a tumblr some time back with posts that basically contained reactions of Japanese fans watching the episodes on a livestream.
it’s more for setting a certain goal, where you can only paint the second eye when you achieve it. The concept takes advantage of one’s natural OCD and looking at the imperfect Daruma with one eye makes you work harder towards your goal.
Were there any Japanese fans of the show before they got an official Japanese dub?
I want a plush of it though!
There’s also the Gen V Pokemon Darumaka and its evolution Darmanitan, which are based off of those.
Ha! Highly doubtful. No more than any other silly references. I think if there’s any canonical religious stuff going on it’s almost certainly Greek.
Tartarus, Orthoros, and the mythical beasts and all.
They’re a Japanese thing. They come with their eyes unpainted; you paint one on and make a wish, and paint the other one on if it comes true.
Buddhism is canon?
Yeah, that’s it. Apparently they are based off of Boddhidarma (they are also sometimes called dharma statues) and there’s a myth that he meditated so long that his legs and arms fell off or something.
They are weighted and spring back up if you push them down.
I mostly know them from animal crossing though.
I forget the name.
