So… this is a silly one. This is a comic adapted (and toned down) from a joke that while you may have heard it from someone else, it was done by one of my most liked comedians, Yayo Guridi. He’s… controversial, let’s say, most of his jokes are very crude and sexual, and his… signature is to lengthen a joke by bringing in many unnecessary, long, complicated and crash insults, for no reason and that add nothing to the joke really. But he has such a fun way of saying it, and usually with such a stone cold face that’s amazing. Many people dislike him, but I think he’s great, and he has a great wit! He also had a ton of songs, with a fake band that where among the same crude lines of his jokes, although he also had an early band where he would make songs like Wendy’s South Park song, where it looks like it’s going to say something rude or something but it changes into another word and stuff.
ANYWAYs, I had fun with this, I liked the idea, I like AppleShy and haven’t done anything with it for a while so… here it goes! There’s other Apple ship comics going around (Well, once I get back my computer, that is) Especially a ApplePie one that I’ve been working on for a loooong time, and I’m REALLY hopeful on.
ENJOY!

You can assume that, but that’s all it is, an assumption, and thus headcanon. You cannot just say “Well, in real life” because this is a society alien to our own. We don’t know what normal is, we can’t observe it, and therefore the possibilities are wide open.
Which is why we both should assume that people are straight by default in real life and fiction rather than bisexual by default since bisexuality is just a tiny fraction of average sexualities in our reality.
Absolutely. You are the only person who can know your own sexuality. Personally, I’m comfortable enough in mine that I don’t mind what you think of me or what I personally find attractive. But that’s the point. Unless I tell you, you’re just assuming. And that’s all you can do with any of these characters. You cannot know.
You know everyone can also say so about everyone on this planet, even about you? I mean een if you date a girl it is only a headcanon that you are straight because we don’t know if you don’t find men attractive. See how does this also work in fiction?
Until they do, everything is headcanon. Just because Mac would like some Sugar Belle Pie doesn’t mean he wouldn’t like a little Caramel on top.
They dont need to perform sexual activities to confirm their preferences. They made it pretty clear with Big Mac and Sugar Belle without them even kissing.
Pretty much. Assuming bisexuality is inclusive. You’re basically allowing for straight ships or slash ships, all possibilities are valid because we can never really know.
Assuming heterosexuality is divisive, leads to people making claims like “Well, your ship is wrong because there is no way x likes girls!”
Well, when you’re dealing with the unobservable, ruling anything out is pointless. And statistics of humans don’t really apply very well to a society of magic talking ponies.
You’re overthinking it a lot. It’s as simple as “if she’s bi it doesn’t contradict my own OTP”.
To clarify, statistically speaking, most people are straight, from which we can logically assume that if someone finds a person of the opposite sex attractive, then there are more chances that they are also straight (hence the “straight by default approach”).
However, “modern tumblr society” is being obsessed by diversity and advancing the representation of minorities, so they consider that finding a person of the opposite sex attractive doesn’t exclude the possibility that they may find people of the same sex attractive, which would make them bi by default, even if it is actually more likely that they are straight.
Basically, it’s like thinking of zebras instead of horses when you hear hoofbeats.
Edited
It’s not really something people can explain, they just say it. And it’s kind of moot to begin with, since we’re talking about a cartoon character who does not have a canon sexual preference, and therefore has schrodinger’s sexuality. She can be assumed to be both gay and straight until observed performing a sexual act, which will never happen in canon.
In canon she has no genitals. So… yeah.
@Background Pony #47AF
You’re gonna have to explain that one to me…
Nah, just 10 years ago, finding a person of opposite sex attractive would make you straight by default. Being bisexual by default is only an invention of modern tumblr society. But she will only be considered bi by default if she finds female character attractive in canon.
Unless she confess to Discord.
Fluttershy is a cartoon, she has no inherent gender preference.
Not in this comic. But AJ might be.
