I saw one person used the egg grenade as a final blow to The Master.
Plus keeping your buffs up.
Another rather effective solution is the badge that lets you use three items in a turn, combined with some good attack items like the grenade eggs.
Some people beat him without the badge, all they have to do is have enough Life Shrooms and Ultra Shrooms.

I felt like shit as a kid fighting him with that badge on . . . pretty much ruins The Master fights . . .
Yes. It’s the Master’s only weakness.
