She’s probably based on what a personification of a cocktail made of giner ale and grenadine, garnished with a maraschino cherry, would look like.

Honestly, I should’ve guessed when I noticed that her design was a liiiitle too close to Mary Dahl’s to be a coincidence.

There’s also the fact that in her debut episode, she was introduced crying conveniently next to the CMC clubhouse, yet she later had no problems crying crocodile tears over an intentionally failed test, raising serious doubt over what she is first seen doing. There’s also the subtle detail that she never drank any “empathy cocoa” during the scene with Starlight
Honestly, I kinda wish I believed she was just innocent.

Yes, I was aware: the reflection of the magic element in her eyes with a devious look, how she just happened to walk into the room when Twilight pondered how Flim and Flam got a copy of her school’s rulebook, etc. I guess I’m more upset with myself for thinking she was pure goodness
There were multiple cases of foreshadowing in her debut episode alone, so you can’t really say it was baseless.
It’s hardly baseless. Nobody is THAT dolled up without being a villain.
Heck I haven’t even seen the non-US episodes yet and I could tell you that.

I think she is just a Trixie kind of personality. Someone that have no problem about acting selfishly or cheat/lie to have her way.
There is some hint about her personality, like she was surprised that someone would just help her out of kindness without asking anything in return. But she wouldn’t seriously try to dominate equestria without some kind of alicorn amulet able to tingle this desire.
Try watching that scene again.
