Had a split second freakout thinking DB had found me. lol
The speed camera thing is more of a problem in the UK but American cities are seeing more and more cameras popping up, so you might get them whether you like it or not I’m afraid :-/
Luckily you can avoid getting unwarranted tickets by plastering the rear of your car mlp stickers as shown above :P
Of those reasons, #2 is the most important with #1 a close second. #3 may or may not be an issue depending upon where one lives - speed/redlight cameras are banned in my area, at least for now (there are a few places where people have organised to get rid of them).
1) plate number = name, address, phone number, etc… this makes it extremely easy to silently steal a car as you can be there as the driver exits the vehicle.
2) Identity theft
3) A fake plate can be made for a car of similar make/model/color so that the car with the fake plate can speed through speed/red light cameras and the tickets get sent to the real owner.
There are other reasons, but in general it’s a really good practice to blur the plates.
I would say they do it to protect themselves more so than the people that are being recorded while the TV show is being broadcasted. The world is full of assholes looking to make an easy buck off a harmless act such as revealing the license plate on the back of your car.
Makes sense I guess.
Because that’s a televised TV show. Don’t want to get sued by some asshole that feels his privacy is being infringed on.
Not really. On Top Gear they always blur out civilan number plates. They must do it for some reason.
As if anyone would so anything with that plate number anyway… I think you’re being a little paranoid about it honestly.
No booster rockets? No military-grade weapon systems? Where’s your imagination?
Yeah, I guess it might have been a good idea for them to blur out the plate or something.
Still, I admire his quick thinking.
Probably not a good idea to take a photo of someone’s car without them knowing. Especially of the license plate.
I could be wrong though.
Well they are stopped at a red light.
Pimpin’.
