The same thing could be said about Sparlight. They’re only good friends and had shown ZERO romantic interest in each other, if anything, Spike has only shown interest in Rarity and Starlight has more romantic chemistry with Sunburst or Trixie. As for how shippers portrayed Sparlight, Spike is some sex guru god, and Starlight is reduced to just another mare to add to his harem, turning his character into little more than a reskin anon/self insert, which has turned me off from the ship entirely but that’s another story

At least Starburst is more plausible, it wouldn’t be much of a leap in logic if they decided to be romantic partners one day. You don’t have to do much, Starlight clearly cares and values his opinion greatly, and Sunburst appreciates her, even if he’s not the most open pony about his feelings.

I know, I know, childhood-friends-to-lovers is one of the oldest tropes in the book, but DAMN if it isn’t effective.

I didn’t mean any of that 😅,I too think that’s starlight and sunburst are just good friends, most fan art portray starlight as the one interested in sunburst but on the show we clearly see that they are just good childhood friends although its pretty obvious why most people go for starlight going crazy for sunburst since she clearly made a big effort just to have a bond with him, she even planned a whole day of activities for the two of them to enjoy (maud appearing out of nowhere was completely unpredictable)

I wasn’t talking about the show, I was talking about how the shippers portray him in their Starburst fanart. But if we talk about how they really act in the show, then neither of them have ever shown any signs of attraction for the other, as some shippers would like to believe.
 
But for me personally, I just see 2 good friends acting like dorks, unless being a dork in today’s standards means your sexually attracted to someone, then I guess I must have been living under a rock my whole life and someone forgot to tell me that’s how you let other people know you’re sexually attracted to them, even if you’re not really interested or just being nice to them.
