I think that just like Whataburger these joints are too regional though. Most people will have never been able to try them. Five Guys is at least spread over more than half of the country.
Most small chains tend to be better simply by virtue of upkeep and communicative cost. Truthfully the best burger I ever had (that I didn’t make) was from a local pub called TJ’s, which has sadly been closed for over a year now because, well, small town economy.

I notice a distinct lack of In-N-Out in these comments. In-N-Out is hardly the best fast food burger chain, but as far as the intersection of quality, price, and pleasantness goes–it can’t be beaten.
(Shake Shack is delicious but a bit pricier. Great shakes though!)
Also, the best gourmet burger joint is 25 Degrees . (there are also locations in Huntington Beach and Chicago)
Oh no worries, I am being light heartedly facetious as usual. haha
Well he and I seem to both really hate our politicians so we’re both aware Texas isn’t perfect
“I’m from Texas and everything Texas is the best blah blah blah”
Is this you, guy? ;3
I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what size fry you order. They give you the same amount, and whatever doesn’t fit in the cup goes directly in the bag.
Don’t worry, that’s impossible.
Someone ordered the Large.
Never heard of that one; if it’s a Peetzer Hutt spinoff like Wing Street, I’m-a give that one a hard pass.
Oh you just wait til you try Burger Street.
I AM Texas and I can confirm Five Guys is objectively a better tier of burger place. People only worship Wataburger out of tradition and peer pressure. For fast food, Whataburger is actually pretty decent, but Five Guys exists in that weird tier between fast food and a sit-down restaurant that borders more closer to fast food but is still noticeably superior. Steak’N’Shake also exists within this strange tier of ALMOST fast food but it’s still a diner.
I was born in this state boy. I’ve been here for nearly 40 years. I am Texas, and I am self aware. I’m aware that Whataburger is basically a meme here - good, but nonetheless, a meme.
Edited
Whataburger is the best FAST FOOD burger I have ever had. Five Guys is on a higher level though. Two totally different experiences only related by food type.
Aside from being burgers, they are not worth comparing. It’d be like comparing excellent top tier canned pasta to homecooked pasta.
But she sure as hell is willing to try! ;D
Well that may be, but she’s still young and inexperienced. SHE ISN’T STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE FIVE GUYS YET.
