In case you don’t know Ace Attorney and think it won’t be for you: I did not know AA before Turnabout Storm either and didn’t want to watch it for the same reason. But then I did and I absolutely adored it. It’s one of the best fandom creations EVER.

It goes both ways. I knew next to nothing about MLP when I first watched Turnabout Storm, and it’s what convinced me to give the show a try. It’s an absolute masterpiece.

And it would have been nice if the CMC got to do something in the S8 finale instead of literally getting shoved in a broom closet, but it’s pretty clear that making the Student Six look special is more important now.
