I’m in love with the expressions along the entire movie and the animation. Smooth and so alive.
Considering how important friendship is to a pony’s soul and how Fizzle’s heart was ripped in two… YEAH.
(Sorry Tempest, but your invasion clearly violates international law in terms of the Princess’ End Slavery Act)
Good excuse in the backstory, I think.
Sometimes their always a dark side
Yeees!
Twilight- looks at her seriously …Because I LOVE you
Classic Disney films didn’t shy away from it. You do have a point about the motivations and backstories, there. Tp be fair, the comics tried to give Sombra a sympathetic backstory, and succeeding for the most part.
Females in general get more sympathy. That’s just a natural genetic thing we humans have. Could you imagine a female villain dying? That would be outrageous. They are usually presented in a better light as well. Discord, Sombra and Tirek were really just jerks while Nightmare Moon and Glimmer had backstories to justify what they are doing. Even Chrysalis arguably just wanted to feed her children. Same with the storm king and Tempest. You wouldn’t be able to switch the gender roles. Who do you like more? Trixie or Blueblood? When they got introduced they were both arrogant and kind of jerks. It’s also a thing we as audience expect and want to a degree because we are human. It would take a lot of effort not to be sexist against males.

I understand the feeling. I’m kinda burned out on villains getting easy redemptions.
As for the gender gap, we’ve had four major villains who are male. Two of them die.
We’ve also had at least six major villains who were female. They all live.

I’m kinda burnt out on this whole ‘MLP FIM is insidiously sexist towards males’ thing.
It had some merit in earlier seasons, but there is plenty positive representation in the show these past few years.
Also Twilight has shown mercy and forgiveness to a male villain she personally can’t stand: Discord.
She could’ve let his treacherous depowered ass rot as Tirek’s punching bag.
Yet, she still considered him a friend worth saving.
Yeah, pretty much that.

Had Tempest been male, he might have died at that moment.
