I’ve posted an alternative here , hopefully easier to read.  
I don’t think the problem is orange-on-orange per se, since monochromatic images can still have perfectly legible text. I’m inclined to believe that it’s dark/light contrast that’s key here. If anything, having two different colours would encourage the artist to skimp on other contrast.
 
But that’s just my feeling - do you find this more legible?
