Fair enough. Me, I’m still hoping at some point we get a pone/griffon/whatever voiced by the cast of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Or at least the dude who does Carl.
I agree with that.
But I still find it interesting when the character sounds like what the person doing the voice is but it’‘s not someone widely know for that.
Forget the ethnicity part but that Sapphire sounds like a singer and the woman that did here voice, Rena Anakwe, is a singer that is apparently isn’t widely know for it outsider of NYC is just gets my attention.
Its like they went “we got this character that is a singer and want it to sound right, who can we get that isn’t going to be recognizable by the sound of there voice by most people?”
Excellent point. I struggle with the urge to facedesk ’till it leaves a dent every time someone insists Ethnic Group X all sound the same, regardless of where they were actually raised.
That & when it comes to voice acting the actor’s ethnicity is basically meaningless. Anyone can play any role so long as it sounds right (& even that rule isn’t set in stone).
Just pointing out the voice sounded like what the person providing it is.

Ponies seem to have all sorts of accents. Like that pegasus with a guitar cutie mark who sounds Hispanic.
Well her voice was provided by female black former singer.
If you listen to her voice, it does sound like a female black singer voice.
However, would have liked to see more face details that implies a different ethnicity than “she is dark skinned”
