Do you have a changeling army at your disposal? We could replace all the decision makers at Hasbro.
I know right? I want G4 to continue and have more interesting stories with The Mane Six, The Mane Six’s husbands, Starlight and Sunburst, their children, The CMC grown up, and Flurry Heart grown up. If they don’t do it, if I become a director, I’d be happy to do it.

Friendship school concept in general
Too much of a time leap for the current generation, yes. But it would work very well for a future generation of My Little Pony. It’s not necessary to make a reboot, in fact, a continuation of what we’ve seen in G4 would be much better with how popular G4 is.
That would be too much of a time leap.
But it seems that the CMC will become teachers at the Friendship School soon.
I’m personally very interested in seeing the future of Applebloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle. They just got sent by the map on their first mission to help someone, which was a huge surprise. It confirms even more that they will do great things for Equestria and I wanna see what their future holds.
And also the future of Flurry Heart. I wanna see her grow up, what she experiences and learns in her life and what she will become.
I agree. For example we still have to see the CMC Manehattan, meet other Zebras, hear more stories about AJs parents and learn more about Trixies past and her father.
AND I want Rainbow to reconcile with Lightning and help her back into the Wonderbolt Academy.

This sounds promising. To be honest, somehow (sounds sappy, but I don’t care) deep in my heart, I can’t believe that Season 9 is actually going to be the end of it…..
Not because of a belief that the leaked stuff is faked by a troll or because I know that I will miss Equestria and the ponies I grew to love so much once all is over, no.
But simply because the idea that Hasbro would really end it all with Season 9 feels so surreal, because of the stupidly high potential for many more seasons and the much more money Hasbro can make of it.
Somehow, all of this doesn’t add up….. My instinct has never betrayed me so far, I really hope it doesn’t betray me this time either.
But even if it should really end, after all, we should also be mentally prepared for this outcome and ensure that we carry on with our creations for Equestria long into the future. A rebooted Generation 5 doesn’t mean we have to stop creating for Generation 4.

The Pillars, I thought of them too, just today. IF it ends with Season 9, one big question will always remain, what became of them after returning? Because then, they won’t have many appearances anymore, as there simply won’t be enough episodes for that anymore then. They alone are a reason for the show to continue beyond Season 9.
And additionally to the side ponies you listed there, let us not forget the gigantic (and ever-growing) herd of background ponies that could be easily elevated to new mane characters. And, of course, the Student Six who already feel like they’re intended to be a new manecast.
And this isn’t even delving into episodes and seasons about Equestria’s past (even the whole thing with the Pillars last season showed only a small bit of Equestria’s history) or Equestria’s future (Teenage Flurry Heart, adult CMC, ect.) yet.
The potential is limitless and so are the seasons it can get.

Does this mean you are sceptical of the Friendship School concept in general or concerned about the quality of the toys?
It will happen someday but I can wait a few years longer and would like a few more seasons of G4..

I will buy some stuff but no way in hell am I touching anything friendship school related.

I think there is more than enough potential for at least 11 or 12 seasons without any loss of quality.
For example there are lots of characters that deserve to be revisited (Babs Seed, Diamond Tiara/Silver Spoon, Lightning Dust, Suri Polomare, the Pillars, Gilda/Gabby/Greta, Coco Pommel, Iron Will, Bright Mac and Pear Butter, Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail, Cheese Sandwich, Daring Do, Ahuizotl, Wind Rider, Gladmane and many others)
They can also show Scorpan, Grogar, Katrina, Zebras, Centaurs, Minotaurs, Abessinia and a whole heap of other things one day.
This is just one of many stories that could be told.

I was wondering if someone else noticed, until I read this comment. That the reboot movie is filed under “Pending Greenlight” means that everything is still up in the air. There is still a chance that the Generation 5 reboot won’t happen at all.

^THIS. I did a lot of thoughts about that recently and wrote them down, including how the instructions for a reboot given to Meghan McCarthy and her team might only be an emergency strategy, created in case the overall movie revenue (cinema, bluray, toys, ect.) stays under Hasbro’s expectations and that the movie doesn’t give the show as much boost as Hasbro hopes.
But Hasbro does not even know how much the movie will bring in at the end; there are still countries that need to see releases of it on Bluray/DVD and still a few more movie toys coming out. And more time needs to pass until Hasbro can properly measure how much positive effect the movie has on the show, as most Season 8 toys aren’t even in stores yet.
Which is where we come in, too, heavily focusing the contents of our wallets and bank accounts on buying the Season 8 friendship school toys and more movie toys, as well as Season 8 episodes on iTunes (if you don’t do that already), for the next months will help giving Hasbro encouragement to decide to continue with Generation 4.
If you’re interested in reading all of it, here are all my thoughts and the conclusion I came to.
But what I wrote here is pretty much the gist of it. There is still a chance to turn this around.

I think there might be a good chance for season 10+.
I think they probably won’t go 3D anymore. It’s a bit late to start production if they still plan to release it in Summer 2020!
