And Moonie is NOT a Monster!!!!!
Well the main concept of Celestia weeping at a statute of her victory to the confusion of the court is still a fine concept. Its just the sudden unexplained imprisonment of the artist that’s bothersome. Its clear that Celestia had Lunas existence suppressed, becoming separate from Nightmare moon and essentially non-existent in history as even Twilight didn’t know about her(perhaps to spare her sisters legacy from being degraded as a usurper/monster by the common ponies) while Nightmare Moon was regulated into becoming a folk story for Nightmare night. A creature of myth to scare foals at night, completely separated from Luna.
Perhaps this statue, depicted an idealized, embellished version of the sisters battle, with Celestia striking down the monster that is Luna created by a proud,well-meaning artist, early in her reign after Luna, was the catalysis for Celestia decision to remove her sisters legacy from history,if only to spare her from such depictions again. I imagine it would be more to her benevolent motherly character if she would instead congratulate the artist for his work, but ask that he and others refrain from depicting such a “traumatic incident” for her again. A century later when public memory is fuzzy she begins her purge of Luna from history…perhaps so Luna can have a fresh start with their subjects when she returns in millennia.

This is what happens when you spend less than ten seconds thinking through your comment. :P
Seems a bit tyrannical. If the common pony only knew history as Celestia Triumphing over an evil spirit that sought to to usurp her throne and had no idea that Celestia had a sister(as Even Twilight didn’t know before) then imprisoning an apparently well intentioned artist creating a work depicting an celebratory embellishment of common history with no explanation, without any apparent wrong seems arbitrary and unjust.
