Sorry dude, can’t hear you over the awesome Watchmen references!
Well you see….Applejack doesn’t really have anything else to learn. Well, maybe if you want to add romance into the mix, but other then that, she’s done.
{She’s pretty much a support character. She helps the others when they’re down or need help.}
It means you can only do one thing.
And absolutely nothing else.
what does ‘One trick pony’ mean? I’ve seen it being used but never fully understood the phrase.
Oh, it was? Regardless, it wasn’t nearly as exciting as I thought it would be based on the concept. Sick of AJ being a one trick pony, it’s getting almost as bad as Fluttershy at this point.
What do Price and Cook have to do with the AJ comic? It was written by Bobby Curnaw, drawn by Brenda Hickey, and colored by Breckel. And yes, I thought it was underwhelming.
I thought the Fluttershy one was terrible. By far my least favorite.
You’re talking to a Spikefan here, though I to want to see more of Celestia.
Dangerous Sea Monkeys? I’ve read that story before in one of those child horror book series. (Can’t remember which.) Interesting, but I don’t much care for Spike or his episodes.
Celestia though is interesting, because we barely see her in the show and we know little to nothing of her back history. It’d be fascinating to watch her interact with others.
Spike micro is about him ordering Sea Monkey type things that are actually dangerous sea beasts.
Celestia micro is Celestia helping out one of her old friends, IIRC.
Spike has a micro….And I’m already not interested.
The Celestia one I’m hyped for.
{Note: I’m lucky someone is posting the comics on youtube vids, else I wouldn’t be able to read them.}
it made me laugh and that is enough for me, i am a simple guy.
The Celestia and Spike micros sound like they have pretty decent stories that aren’t retreads, so there’s that.
Okay it may not have been the best pick for a Pinkie comic, but I’m sure they’ll do better with the next one.
But the comic writers can write about almost anything, why focus on mentors? If the GM Berrow story about Pinkie were what her micro was about, that would have been cool.
Eh, that’s how all “Get a mentor back on track” things go.
Either the mentor gets back to doing their thing {Quite a bit of the time they get killed shortly afterwards in the case of heroes} or the mentor starts to teach others.
It’s okay.
{Twilight’s and Pinkie’s both represent two different past mentors.
Twilight’s was the cynical one who doesn’t want anything to do with their past occupation.
And Pinkie’s the sad one, who believes it’s his/her time to stop or that they aren’t good enough anymore.}
The Andy Price/Katie Cook micros are a bit overrated, IMO. The Rarity one was strong but the ending was just too “perfect” for my tastes, and the AJ one didn’t try anything new with her character. Both are fine, they just seem to really play it safe and not talk about anything other than the same traits every writer tackles with AJ.
The Pinkie and Twilight ones were a retread of each other with a predictable story. Rainbow Dash’s was pretty good, as was Fluttershy’s. But Pinkie’s is by far my absolute least favorite, the CMC probably have my top spot now.
TBH, I think that the “get a mentor back on track” episode isn’t good enough to use once, let alone twice. It always has the same twist, at least in A Friend Indeed we didn’t hear Cranky whine about not having his girlfriend until Pinkie put two and two together. There was some suspense.
The second Pinkie started talking about how the mentor was so great but now they don’t do it any more, I saw the ending a mile away. Ditto for Twilight’s micro.
Pinkie’s was one of my favorites. It had the pacing and feel of an episode, the writing was in character, the song was great, the concept was a lot of fun, and the art was a hell of a lot better than Twilight’s micro.
I liked Rarity’s more, and maybe the CMC, but that’s it.
Oh I see. Two comics were about getting a mentor back on track….Yeah, it did feel rather similar to Friend in Deed.
But to be honest, I like the comic better then the episode in so far as the pony is thankful and appreciative of Pinkie trying her best to get him to be happy and keep on with his passion.
While the episode is about Pinkie trying to be friends with a donkey who doesn’t want to deal with her….To his misfortune until they pull a twist by saying that the donkey mare that we saw earlier in the episode was actually his long lost love who he never got to see again because he didn’t find the note on the door.
While the comic was much simpler and probably wouldn’t fit the space of a full episode, it was much more pleasant. {I don’t hate A Friend Indeed. I just think it wasn’t one of the best Pinkie episodes. Still great though.}
You meant that they are parodying one of their own songs in the context of bringing in another season?…While I would have preferred a more original song for each season (Gives them more flare to them) It’s alright.
Eh, this joke didn’t do it for me either. At least issue 10 was better than 9.
Please, I’m a Pinkiefan. I’m just really, really pissed that her micro was such crap.
