“Princess” obviously sounds like a permanent promotion, but there are any number of ways that “alicorn” could be temporary. Either way, damage is done. Trust the writers to make an awesome show in spite of their toy-company-based limitations like they have been doing all along or GTFO.

Okay, I agree with Ms. McCarthy’s second and third statements there. At the beginning of all this, I was afraid that Twilight becoming a princess would end the series, but after sitting around a bit, making some casual ‘in denial’ jokes about this with friends, and, stay with me here, allowing the concept to sink into my mind and THINKING about it, I concluded that it, indeed, doesn’t change who she is, only what she is.
 
When a human being becomes – oh, let’s say – a knight, they don’t stop being that person that had proven themselves worthy of knighthood, they only put on a new suit of armor, and as a newly knighted person, they have more expectations of them, responsibilities, and challenges ahead of them.
 
I believe Season 4 will follow the theme of Princess Twilight learning her new abilities and responsibilities as an alicorn princess while adjusting her everyday life accordingly. A big adjustment like this would prove very difficult for anyone, and it will take the love and support of her friends to help her make it through.

Hey remember Applejack’s truck? I’m still waiting to see that thing in an episode, smashing stuff! Point is, they don’t have to have a series of episodes to make toys. Though I guess the fact that the toys are being released in fall is a bit odd. Meghan’s quotes were pretty vague, IMO. Why don’t we just wait till the episode and see? If there were no spoilers, non of the drama would be happening, and we’d probably just watch and really like what happens, WHATEVER happens. Now we’re probably going to look back and feel like idiots. Just…hold your horses until the episode airs.

Mind letting me see the crystal ball you forsaw episode 13 in?

I would say we share the opinion about that. Larson is my favorite writer on the show, so I have hope. I don’t know how to this alicorn-thing right, but then again nobody pays me to write. And I don’t believe that a single thing, even this big can ruin the show.

So, all of your evidence for this is based on two vague lines from McCarthy, in which she could have just been referring to the episode it’s self and not everything after that, and just ignore the Title of the episode, it’s synopsis, and Hasbro’s history of making toys based on one episode or never appeared. Yeah, we’re the idiots…

Hasbro has and would spend money on creating toys for just one episode. Remember Rarity’s flutterwings? There’s a whole series of flutterwing ponies, but they have never shown up in the show again.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s funny that there was little to none rage about discord becoming a good guy, which actually had been confirmed, yet some people are this angry about something that we’re not even sure will be permanent?

Direct evidence would be her saying “Twilight is definitely going to stay an alicorn.” Direct evidence would be watching the episode and knowing for sure.
