They speak Fancy
…and which language do they speak in Quebec? They’re all “puis j’aller aux toilette” over there.
Horse meat is actually legal in Canada though. They’re considered a delicacy in some parts of Quebec.
Now that they’ve Brexited, time to sell it to the Britbongs as beef jerky.

Fun fact: the prohibition against eating equines is strongest in the English-speaking world.
Edited because: add more facts
If you like tartare, that’s definitely something I’d suggest to try.

Mm, partly explains. We never had any problem eating oxen, that are working animals as well.
But surely horses are more expensive and versatile. That’s why horse meat is harder to find even in countries where it’s normally consumed.
Horses in the US (until recently) were working animals, and were necessary to get from one place to another. Back in the day, a good horse was a man’s best servant. So there’s kind of a taboo against eating them–you don’t eat your hired help, after all.
I heard there’s horse meat tartare.
The sweeteness vaguely reminds of lamb, but I wouldn’t say it’s similar to lamb in taste, no.
But then again, there are many different horse meat cuts and types, and it’s been quite a long time since my last horse steak… Or tartare…
Similar to lamb?
Because I love lamb.
However, I’m not sure if I should eat an animal that is also my birth zodiac, the equine.
… I don’t know where to begin!
It’s not too dissimilar from beef, reminds of deer meat but sweeter.
Very good texture.
What do they taste like?
Well, I live in “the West” but horse meat is commonly consumed in my country, and all across Europe in general.
Horses here are hardly considered as “pets”, so that helps. Only those animals that live inside the house walls, or immediately nearby, are usually seen as pets.
It may be different in countries where horses have been a significant part of the common culture until recent times, like of course the US.
Yeah, it’s considered taboo in the West because they’ve achieved “pet” status.
Yes, indeed, the real point is false claiming, but people were enraged because they allegedly are horses.
Probably because if said accusation is true, then it’s basically false advertisement, considering they call their patties “all beef”.
But yeah, horse meat isn’t bad.
Never got the point of it.
Horse meat is delicious.
That was one heck of a scandal.
I also kinda like the hand-coloring here.
