That’s my experience. One day my intuos5 pen decided to stop working, and when I looked up replacement pens they were only slightly cheaper than a a brand new Intuos Pro Small (next gen of i5), which included the same pen that comes with i5. So yeah, I opted to pay a bit more and with the pen I got an additional small tablet (rarely ever use), a wireless kit (installed it in my i5), spare USB cord and pen nibs.
Although the one Pinkie’s chewing is the Medium size, so maybe it would be more pricey.
