Those teardrops must have been enormous to cause ripples of that magnitude on the suface of the water. Two pairs of grapes would barely have made a similar splash. Only in Ponyville, I guess.

@youregoingtoloveme
I think many bronies (and maybe even the kid fans watching) felt that way too, regardless which side they were on.

I think I leaned more in the middle, I somewhat liked Tiara as much as one could like an antagonist, and I always kinda wanted to see her somewhat redeemed, or show a different side to her, or different emotion, at least. As a result, I was quite pleased with the episode.

It was genuinely heart-breaking to see her “broken” and singing such a lovely sad song. (But in a way, it did help her start to realize the error of her ways.)
For awhile many bronies absolutely loathed her, and felt she had no redeeming qualities. (Though, she’s had a few subtle ones, if you know where to look. Like in “Twilight Time,” there seemed to be a few moments where she genuinely enjoyed being on friendlier terms with the CMC, despite it being brown-nosing so she could meet Princess Sparkle.)
Especially, after “Flight to the Finish” which some bronies felt made her irredeemable, and downright “evil.” (Scootaloo being the most popular of the CMC helped fuel that too. Some also felt, she didn’t get enough repercussions/karma in said episode, which also soured them on her. However, after seeing the new episode, it’s likely her Mother was not pleased at her daughter not being a “winner,” and losing to “mere blank-flanks.” Tiara likely got chewed out, lectured, or even punished for that.)
I’ve even seen fans try to argue she’s worse then Tirek & Sombra were. (A power-hungry destructive demon centaur, and a unicorn tyrant who enslaved an entire race of ponies, and become a shadowy eldritch abomination respectfully. Got to say, I disagree that a mere child bully is worse then those things. Though, I guess sense TIara is more “realistic” in that sense, it hit home for those who were bullied as kids, or still are.)

Still, I like to think the new ep’ put away lot of those biases, and assumptions, and reminded fans that Diamond Tiara, is not some kind of heartless, emotionless monster… She’s a child. And it turns out a rather lonely one, with some self-confidence issues she tries to hide due to her own pride/ego, and her Mother’s influence.

As I happen to be one and not the other, I’ll never know which felt worse: being a brony who hated Diamond Tiara and felt conflicting emotions upon hearingseeing her cry or a brony who always loved her (and felt all the slings and arrows of hatred that the fandom felt fo her) and choked on their feels from seeing her sad and then squeed themselves to death when she came out on top as a better and happier pony.

Sad ponies are the most adorable thing, I secretly always hoped they’d do something like this with Tiara. Never expected to get such a sad, yet touching song too on top of it.

Was that Chantel Strand actually singing, or somebody else? She’s got quite lovely voice, and really did the song justice, making you feel bad for a character who previously was thought to have no redeeming qualities by most fans.
