I intended a little feelsiness, but I never really had anything in mind.

As long as I can disappear into the darkness with her, then it’s all good.

While I am not sure of the artist’s intent, this image is giving me feels.  
Imagine you have one day in Equestria and it ends when the sun sets and darkness covers the land; you spend it with your favorite pony, Pinkie. You and her stop by the ocean as the sun is slowly setting in the distance. She has had a wonderful day with you and she turns to you and smiles as she releases the balloon you gave her earlier that day. She continues to smile as the balloon blows slowly away in the cool evening breeze. Pinkie asks you to stay with her for a while longer and so you stay right next to her, hugging her, as she slowly vanishes in the darkness.
