What a lie. Luna/Nightmare Moon/Mooney never wanted eternal darkness. She wanted eternal night. The difference is that for eternal darkness, there would not be a source of light anywhere, while eternal night equals the light from each and every star Luna creates for her night sky plus the light from the moon.
