^ that’s possible, but a big point against that is the fact that nobody remembered Princess Luna but Twilight. If ponies can live a couple of hundred years than you figure it wouldn’t have devolved from history lesson, to old story, to legend, to myth quite as much.

In Canterlot at least they change the seasons with magic but that’s because its a mainly unicorn town. Twilight does mention the tradition going back hundreds of years which raised a big stink when it turned out Ponyville was a little younger than Granny Smith.
