She didn’t, her name is “Pillow Talk”, the conversation that occurs immediately before or after sex. It’s made clear earlier that she’s not just an alcoholic, she’s a slut too. I think a heart-stamped pillow fits with that.

Also regarding the parallels between the Aero and Glitter stories part of that is cross-contamination because Dezzy and I collab and brainstorm a lot, but I have also been planning Glitter’s parents since before the Spa story. I’d always known how I wanted Glitters parents to be and I’ve used that knowledge to inform Glitter’s decision making and behavior. I just never had a good time or reason to put them in the story until now.

making characters that are likable (like aero and snails) is important, but making characters the reader will hate is just as important for a story with meaningful content.
 
||Aero’s mom denying their cross-dressing at first showed the fear many young people have growing up, it was so incredibly powerful because it had a character doing something WRONG. ||
 
and this is yet another aspect of that same issue, a parent failing at being a parent, though this looks more like a chronic long-term issue of self indulgence than lack of information.
 
we can hate pillow talk because she is currently acting as a bad influence on a character most want to see succeed and be happy. or because she appears entitled or a moral degenerate, though without more information we cant really say what her situation is to properly understand why she is this way.
 
i see pillow talk as an obstacle in glitters development, not just someone to avoid, but someone that can at any point intervene in their life without any power to oppose them. that is another fear that seems to resonate strongly with younger people.
 
an overly judgmental parent like derpy was vs a seemingly neglectful one like pillow talk, is it a foil? maybe. the development of glitter as a character probably didn’t directly link to aero’s in every way but its hard not to see the comparisons in their home life.
 
the idea we can hate a character so immediately shows how much we believe in glitter as a character and how much we don’t want them hurt or abused by this (new to us) integral part of their life.
 
i personally have regrettable memories of people that pillow talk remind me of, personal experiences and interactions that make me feel incredibly bad but thats the point right? to make a character that FEELS real and that you can absolutely see as a person and not just a shape with words above them.
