I disagree, While I thought the reference to episode 1 with Fluttershy was a nice touch, the joke would get old if Twilight met all the other friends as she did in the first episode.

Even worse: I’ve seen some get offended by dog spike, thinking that they ruined the character.

Nah, I thought the worst part was that Twilight’s introductions to the human versions of Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash were COMPLETELY different from how she met the pony versions, yet when encountering the human version of Fluttershy, it was pretty much note-for-note the same as her first meeting with the pony version, save for a subversion where Twilight didn’t let Spike speak and had some cover when she had said that Spike usually speaks his mind to her.

Sadly, people are STILL raging over it…

It’s funny how much rage came out of the fandom when “Spike becomes a dog” was revealed in the leadup to EQG. Then we found it was the best part of the movie.
