I’m starting to feel really glad that I never tried the game now…

I second the non grimdark version.
*wits in and out of combat
*rarely so much as glanced over
It raises the stakes; it offers that mix of dread for what could happen and the mystery of not knowing what’s wrong when it’s wrong. The player is always kept on edge investing in this baby and doing whatever it takes to keep it alive as long as possible. It almost flies too close to the sun by making death inevitable; that nothing changes beyond the tedious tasks required to keep the baby alive and well.
Joypony, whether the creator knows it or not, did something profitable games never do. Many profitable games focus on wits on and out of combat, or on growing an empire or growing powerful as a character. This humble game tests how much willpower a player will have to take a bundle of joy and how much tedium and torture they are willing to take to keep the hope of seeing it for another day. I think as a concept it’s compelling, and it exposes a piece of human nature that’s rarely glanced over in video games.
I hope you know what you’re getting into
