@Deserter
This isn’t an ending at all. This is just where the creator decided to abandon the story.

Seriously. This was JUST starting to get into the second act!
NounVerb

“He was paying more attention to her than to me.”

Several things wrong with this situation here:

  1. Of course he’d be more aware of the person who’s blocking his view of the movie, talking to him about the movie, making increasingly explicit passes at him, and molesting him. Playing the gender role reversal card to see how we’d treat this if it was a man being upset that his female date was paying more attention to the other douchebag who was molesting her in the theatre, he’d be damn near crucified. Therefore, Dash needs to mare up and do her best to salvage the date.

  2. It was shown that she’s got a crush on Anon. A date going badly doesn’t mean that Dash’s crush suddenly no longer exists. Those feelings might be tangled up while she’s processing the fact that a harassing molester was more of an attention-grabber than someone sitting next to him quietly, but they’d still be there.

  3. Rarity has not shown any kind of attraction to Rainbow Dash at all during this entire comic. In fact, she was the one trying to set her up with Anon, as the title “Rarity sets up a date for Rainbow Dash” demonstrated.

Trust me, I can understand.

I generally hate shipping with a passion, because the shippers tend to start thinking that their fucked up alternate reality fanfiction is actually a part of the characters. This can happen between characters who do nothing more than stand next to each other in the background.

The only exception is stuff involving Anon, because it’s already seven shades of insanity, and no-one can remotely pretend that these crazy stories are anything other than weird fever dream craziness. This kind of thing should not ever be a relevant factor in actual show discussion.

Shippers forget to make that distinction.
