I think I understand what you mean. You’re saying that there’s no reason to predict what will happen because we already KNOW what will happen.
trust me, as a writer, I understand that.
It’s his comedy, animation style, and the amount of dialogue in his cartoons that turn me off. Here’s a long quote from John Kricfalusi about dialogue in cartoons:
“A lot of characters in modern cartoons are simply mouthpieces for the writers. They speak in the writer’s voice rather than the character’s voice, tell the jokes that the writer and his writer friends think are funny, but are totally out-of-character for the character who is actually saying them. This common writer’s flaw is known as “writerspeak”. “I’ll bet that asteroid will burn out in the atmosphere and shrink to the size of a chihuahua’s head”. That’s writerspeak. It’s informational, a setup for a gag that is supposed to happen at the end of the cartoon. A gag that the audience will predict the second they hear the writerspeak setup and congratulate themselves when they find that they were duped into being right. A gag that the cartoonists are not allowed to actually make funny by drawing the payoff funny. This is a line of dialogue that could be read by any character in the story.”
I feel that way about Hartman’s cartoons.
@CrassMetalHead
I can’t deny that, but you make it so easy.
It’s to the point where you kinda feel Butch shot himself in the foot with that.
and that is EXTREMELY frustrating
True.
And oh dear, I do know Butch and him went at it.
Silver Age was better represented in Brave and the Bold, literally
but when Marmel wrote TUE, and it’s great reception by fans, Hartman canned him.
All his shows for the most part are enjoyable, even if they are goofy. I also love how some people miss the point of DP being a homage to the Silver Age of Comics. IT’S SUPPOSE TO BE ALL GOOFY YA DANG PLEBS.
Although FOP has overstayed it’s welcome and TUFF Puppy/Danny Phantom were screwed over by Nick.
yeah, but as a guy that’s developed a series sequel to DP, someone has to have reason.
Yes, Hartman is camedy-centric, he also has an inferiority complex
I think Filflat is just an attention troll
Hartman specializes in comedy, specifically over the top comedy. yes, it gets old, and Danny Phantom broke that with the action it gave.
T.U.F.F. Puppy is too comedic, even with its “action”.
That show’s gone down the shitter.
@CrassMetalHead
It’s not my fault if Butch Hartman can’t make good cartoons, don’t shoot the messenger.
lawl.
Bah, some people have no taste. he probably gets off watching Spongebob.
Well aren’t you a ball of sunshine then.
Both of those shows were garbage, Butch Hartman’s cartoons suck.
No, Fairly Odd Parents became garbage.
And tell that to Butch who wants Danny Phantom to return because Nick is making more mistakes that it’s bar with Konami.
+1
ouch, sick burn. I don’t even like Sasuke (or the Naruto series) anymore, this is just the username I’ve used since 2007
@sasukex125
…Well given your username, it’s rather clear you lack much in the good taste department
