Good point.

In retrospect, this could have been a bigger gaffe than first expected. Had they not been in full costumes, the fans would have gotten the first look at the CMC with their cutie marks, before that episode aired.

I doubt much will come of it. Hasbro will still get its share of royalties from the copies of the episode that were downloaded (which was probably a huge number because of the fact that it was leaked, and the news spread like wildfire). Advertisers on the show itself had those ads locked up in that show for weeks beforehand, week after week, so they’re not really losing on the number of eyeballs watching. In short, it’s embarrassing, and Hasbro doesn’t get to ride the hype train for this episode as much, but then when you have such a dedicated fandom you don’t need to ride that train long.

Episode 21 got out early before it even aired on tv thanks to apple releasing it by mistake instead of the Rarity Investigates episode
