Very true, yo. If I wanted to watch the show (which, on my comp, I actually am right now), I’d just watch the show. When it comes to fan animations, I’m usually most impressed when they make it really different and take some chances.
 
I feel the same way when it comes to bands covering songs by other bands. If you’re going to cover it, don’t play it the exact same way. Make it your own. Go wild with it!

I actually wish more animators would go this route of bringing their own unique style to the party instead of trying to be as SHOW ACCURATE!!1! as possible; if I want to see Show Accurate, I’ll watch the show.

Well (in my headcannon) Luna was corrupted by an entity. And being bonded to this entity for a thousand years caused Luna to gain full traits from it like the ability to turn into a gas and to shape-shift, and partial traits like becoming omnivorous. She could have the bat wings because she has decided to be a different perception of Nightmare Moon for Halloween, and shifted her wings to become bat wings.
